Birthday Blog!

It has been a while since my last blog, partly because we had the chaos of moving house and studio in June, and I haven't had time to do much except both pack and keep making, and try not to begin twitching to much! BUT it has been very positive, as we have a much more roomy, light and inspiring home and studio, so the stress was worth it!

So, what's new? Well, I have a mailing list/newsletter now, so if you would like to be kept up to date with workshops, offers, courses etc, please email me and let me know. It is a great way to find out first about everything at Ffelty Towers ;-)

I travelled down to Cardigan Castle to run a 3D workshop, where each person made a wonderful creature over the course of the day, and we enjoyed a yummy lunch before becoming engrossed in our creations! The following day, I ran a Hare making workshop at the WoolCroft in Abergavenny, and again, each person made a fabulous little sculpture. two blissful days, and two lovely groups of very enthusiastic and creative ladies!

The next exciting event is my exhibition in Porth - a solo exhibition on the Makers Beyond wall at the Workers Gallery and Workshops... the details are on the events page here. I will be exhibiting both 2 and 3 D works, and there are other exhibitions and displays there too, so if you fancy a lovely day out to a wonderfully rescued old library, transformed into a beautiful gallery by two very lovely people, you will be in for a treat!

As some of you know, each year I run free workshops for children at the Green Man festival , which is in August. Each year we use about £200 of roving wool, over 4 days, with 100's of people taking part each day from dawn til dusk! This year, I am asking anyone who can spare £1 to help sustain these free workshops by donating to the fundraiser, as I have asked local businesses for the last 3 years, and I don't think I should expect the same from them again :-) If you feel that you can help by sharing, or donating, please follow the link -   I have already had some very generous donations and I am IMMENSELY grateful to everyone for all the amazing support - the children will really appreciate your efforts!

This year I have also been approached by several sheep farmers, offering me their fleece, some for money, some for gifts, some as donations, all of which is amazing as I am now gathering all types of raw fleece and learning more about how to use it, process it by hand, or incorporate it raw into my work... I will post some photos soon so that you can see them in their beauty!

I am also going somewhere VERY exciting in the early autumn, and I am not allowed to say where just yet, but it is going to be such an adventure! Sorry for not giving you any previews yet, but, I will VERY soon, I promise :-)

I have also opened up slots for anyone wishing to book a quieter, 1-2-1 therapeutic workshop, where we can either needle or wet felt something that represents an aim, an achievement, a wish or a comfort ... if you, or anyone you know, would like to find out more about these, please email me - if you would like to extend the treat into an overnight or weekend retreat, I can also supply some details of very lovely places and people to contact. The 1-2-1 sessions are usually held at my studio, overlooking the Brecon Beacons, with the hills rising behind us and the garden full of birds. You may also suggest your own location. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

For ideas, questions, bookings or information, please use the contact form on this website, or email

Thank you again for all your tremendous support! Love and Blessings to you all - I am off now to prepare for my family visiting for my birthday tomorrow, and my friends arriving to stay on the weekend to continue the celebrations... see you all soon! Xxx
